Ikua Purdy – Historic Waimea Statue

This larger-than-life bronze monument celebrates paniolo legend Ikua Purdy, the Hawaiian cowboy who claimed the 1908 World Steer Roping Championship in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Commissioned by the Paniolo Preservation Society and sculpted by Fred Fellows, the 27-foot-long, 65-ton statue depicts Purdy in action roping a steer. ZCI assisted in its 2006 relocation to a prominent highway-adjacent site at Parker Ranch Center, ensuring this symbol of Big Island pride remains a landmark for generations.

Waikoloa kitchen remodel earns ASID award

This award-winning transformation earned Interior Designer Sue Moss (Trans-Pacific Design) an Award of Merit in the Contemporary Hawai‘i Kitchen category at the 2015 ASID Hawaii Design Excellence Awards.

What was once a cramped, awkward kitchen—featuring a corner sink, jutting peninsula, and oppressive crossbeam—became a spacious, bright contemporary hub with zoned cooking/clean-up areas, custom maple cabinets, quartz counters, illuminated display soffits for hula awards and instruments, and abundant natural light. A true showcase of functional island living for kumu hula Nani Lim-Yap and family.
